I am taking a stand! A stand against all those who say they want something for their life and are not prepared to work for it. A stand against the mindset that says “I’ll do this as long as there isn’t much to do!”

Here’s the reality. If you want to be known as the go to guy/gal, the maven, the expert, the authority or any other word that means your opinion means something you are going to have to put in some work. Period!

No more “do I really have to do all that” or “can’t I just do half of that” or even worse “there’s just so much to go through I can’t do it!”

Aaaarrrggghhhh!

Stop letting things get in your way. Stop giving yourself permission to give up simply because things are a little difficult or you are feeling a tad overwhelmed.  I guess this opt out rate of people who just can’t make the grade is no bad thing – after all it makes more room for those of us willing to keep our head in the game. I just find it surprising how quickly people are willing to give up at the first sign of trouble or difficulty.

All I can say is if you can’t stand the blogging heat then leave the bloody kitchen!

Take up another profession and leave blogging alone because real blogging takes effort, it takes determination and it takes commitment. I am talking to all those people who really want to become authority bloggers.  We have to strive to be let into the “Kingdom Of The Master Blogger!”  Just like any “master” of their art, writers, actors, musicians, football players. To get to the top they had to put in the time to get there.

Its time for me to get tough and stop tolerating this rubbish. I just refuse to work with anyone who isn’t willing to dig in and put in a bit of old fashioned sweat and tears to get the job done.

It will happen if you give yourself time

When I came online 4 years ago I had no clue how to upload a web page – it took me 3 days to work out that I had to click on a green button (that said upload – surprise surprise!) and the page would show up on the web.

Only it didn’t show up on the web because I named the page homepage.html and of course the very first page to show up must always be called index.html – that was another 2 days to figure out and only after asking the question on a forum did I discover my error.

It took me 3 weeks to figure out how to put up a small website. Six months later I could put one up in under 2 hours.

Fast forward 2 years and I start blogging. Only I have no clue what I am doing and blogger just seems too complicated. Rather than giving up I went over to typepad and paid for my blog until I figured it all out.

I taught myself how to use dreamweaver, I taught myself how to create and edit audios, I taught myself to use Camtasia to make videos, I taught myself how to upload and setup a WordPress blog  – I did this most times with the help of youtube videos and just figuring it out. Now I can have a blog up with content on in half a day (and the blog looks as if it has been around for months!)

I built a website that took me months and was full of stuff and unfocused – my first mentor told me it was a waste of time take it down. Instead I was taught how to niche and focus.

I took on more mentors and learnt about information products, marketing, web promotion using audio and video – plus a whole host of other stuff.

It has taken me 4 years of learning and in the next 4 years I intend to get all that investment back 10 times over 🙂

I fell into social media and relationship marketing naturally just by doing what I love to do  – connecting with people. I was on Myspace before it was invaded by internet marketers and then abandoned for Facebook and I have built up followers around social sites.

I have run and deleted a couple of great Ning sites – all of which has been a learning experience for me and now I run a social network with close to 8,000 members.

All of this I did on my own, in my room, sitting at my computer. If I get lost I asked – there are forums out there with loads of people to help.

But NEVER in my 4 years of blood, sweat and laughter (and a few tears) did I ever think of giving up. EVER! Why? Well for three reasons.

Firstly I understand that success is incremental. You don’t go from earning $1 to $50,000 a month in a day. It happens over time with the first $1 then $10 then $100, $1,000 and so it builds, up and up until you reach your goal. Success happens in all the little steps that you take as you go through your blogging journey.

Also because I had a bigger vision than that. I am compelled towards wanting to succeed because I want my children to understand that they never have to think about getting a 9-5 thanks to the internet. I  want us to travel around the world together thanks to the income I earn online.  I want them to experience a great life thanks to blogging, information products and membership sites – intangible but highly profitable new ways of working!

And finally because I could see what was possible. I knew that people had gone from earning nothing, sometimes being broke to building businesses that could turn over a million in less than a week! I could see from what was happening that it was possible. I went through a period of wondering who would ever want to listen to a 40 something year old black single mother from London but eventually I gave them up, because I realise I have something unique to share and there will be people who will want to listen.

You have people waiting to hear your message. There are people out there who will love reading your authority blog but you have to start it and you have to be ready to put the work in and patiently wait. I get tired of waiting sometimes. I want success NOW and I could certainly use a few more blog comments (hint, hint)! But then listening to Earl nightingale and the Strangest Secret he said that the person who is successful in life is the person doing something because that is what they chose to do not because they have to.

I have a passion for blogging and for the possibilities that audio, video and blogs hold and I want to share that passion with any enterpreneur willing to put in the work to make it happen. It isn’t quick, it won’t happen over night, but it WILL HAPPEN.

The only question you need to answer is  – what are you willing to do to make it happen?
