Have you ever thought about using local video marketing to generate visitors to your business blog?
Creating and distributing local video is an important part of your local marketing strategy and I will be amazed if you haven’t given it some thought.
There are two things that can stop a small business owner from using video (or at least when I speak to local business owners these are the two things they tell me!). One is knowing how to edit a video they make and the other is knowing what type of video to put together.
There are several types of video you can put together to help you generate visitors to your business blog.
When you create videos that are highly effective (meaning they are just not a sales pitch!) they help you get found in the search engines.
When you create videos and include a call to action and/or your contact details, people will contact you then and there to find out more about your business
What type of local videos can you create?
You do not have to be the star of the show in all your videos or any of them if you don’t want to be in front of the camera. You can use
- Testimonial videos about your business
- Learning article videos where you go through a topic
- Tutorial videos where you show people how to do something
- Videos that use image and music
Here is a testimonial video for me from a client. Get clients to leave you video testimonials and all you need to do is edit them and put them up.
Using Powerpoint In Your Videos
With this type of video you create what you want to say in powerpoint then simply let it run and speak along with the slides, edit the video and you are done. Nice and easy! In the video below I actually had an audio of David’s voice and I made the powerpoint presentation and put the two together so if you already have audios available why not use them and turn them into videos.
Videos That Promote Your Business
This video is a great “star of the show” type video where you introduce your business. Sometimes the thought of being in front of a video can make you a little nervous but the more you do it, the easier it becomes. Plus, people are searching for a solution to their problem – they care about how you help not whether you give a Bafta winning performance!
Videos With Images and Music
Videos with images and music are also becoming a popular way to create videos. I have made a few myself although I am not a huge fan of them although the video below is one of my favourites and I love the music!
Videos That Teach
This is one of the first videos I ever made in 2007 and although I hate it I leave it up because it has had over 30,000 views. Once your videos receive a view thousand views Google get in touch about advertising on it and that brings in a monthly income. Don’t be tempted to cheat though because if you use one of those services that will automatically get you a few thousand views they will know something is up
You can get someone to interview you and then post the video up. In this video someone approached me about a social network I was running at the time and wanted to interview me. I had a stinking cold when we shot this but am still happy with… boy do I look different now 🙂
Things To Remember with Local Video Marketing
People are not looking for perfection when you create your videos – they are looking to connect with the person behind the business so please don’t think your videos need to be TV quality or perfect.
When you first start you may find you are a little “stiff” in front of the camera. Do your best to relax and remember with time it gets easier to do and you will relax more. The best thing to do is to pretend you are talking to a friend on the phone.
Comments, likes and dislikes
As you start making videos you will find that people may leave you a comment or ask questions. Just like blog commenting this is a good opportunity to interact with people. Comments – good or bad are worth leaving on your video, just don’t let the bad ones get you down. Remember it is just a persons opinion and everyone has one!
“One should respect public opinion in so far as is necessary to avoid starvation and to keep out of prison, but anything that goes beyond this is voluntary submission to an unnecessary tyranny”
– Bertrand Russell
I hope you found that useful. Use your local videos on your WordPress blog so that your potential clients can see how you can help them. They make excellent blog posts and save you from thinking about what to write because it is all there in the video.
